Stepping Into The Unknown

Taking bold steps into the unknown can be daunting. It’s like setting off on a hike without a map, unsure where the path will lead. For me, stepping out in faith meant letting go of my plans and trusting God, even when the road didn’t make sense.
I dreamed of making a difference and felt called to teach overseas. But where? How? The endless possibilities overwhelmed me, and I often doubted myself. Was I capable? Could I really follow through? One question lingered in my mind that a friend asked me: What would you do if you knew you wouldn’t fail?
After months of searching, the answer became clear in the most unexpected way: South Korea—a place I never wanted to go. My plans to travel with a friend fell through, leaving me to face the decision alone. It felt impossible, but God reminded me that I wasn’t truly alone.
When the moment came to board the plane, with only a one-way ticket and $800 in cash, doubts crept in. Was this real? Could I actually do this? Despite my fears, I took the leap.
Arriving in Korea, nothing went as expected. I faced culture shock, unforeseen expenses, and a classroom full of kids who tested my patience and skills daily. I felt inadequate and overwhelmed, questioning why I was there. But in those moments of doubt, I leaned into faith. Slowly, I began to learn, adapt, and find my footing.
This journey taught me that stepping into the unknown is not about having it all figured out. It’s about trusting the process and believing that growth happens in the discomfort.
If you’re holding back on a dream because it feels too big or uncertain, I encourage you to take the leap. You may not see the whole path, but that’s okay.
Faith often means walking forward without all the answers.
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
